A 500-pound dinosaur named T. Rex, V.P. is now on permanent display at Allegheny Valley School's Pittsburgh Campus in Coraopolis thanks to the generosity of board member Ira Gordon and his wife Nanette.
T. Rex, V.P. was one of the 100 dinosaurs spotted around Pittsburgh during the summer of 2003. He was part of Carnegie Museum of Natural History's DinoMite Days. Visitors to Pittsburgh encountered DinoMite Days dinosaurs in public plazas, on streets and in front of buildings.
The once-in-a-lifetime event began in May and concluded with a black tie gala in October when the 100 dinosaurs were on display and up for auction. Ira and Nanette purchased T. Rex, V.P. at the gala and soon thereafter notified AVS President and Chief Executive Officer Regis Champ about AVS' newest mascot.
T. Rex, V.P. was designed by illustrator Dave Klug who created a dinosaur that represents a business leader and symbolizes the evolutionary path dinosaurs took to become the giants they were. With his stylish hat and briefcase in claw, he is ready to conquer the world...again!
"There is no better place to display T. Rex, V.P. than at the Pittsburgh Campus where every day hundreds of AVS clients, staff and visitors will be able to view him," comments Champ. "T. Rex, V.P.'s presence will be a fun reminder to the individuals we serve of their determination to succeed and to reach their fullest potential."
Thank you Nanette and Ira Gordon for this wonderful donation!
